With the strongest 16 the club has had available for a long time Port Goole hosted Bridon full of confidence.

The line-up saw the return of key players in Carter Sellars and Luigi Foschi with Matty Cooper also returning to the starting line-up after missing last weeks game.

The last 4 weeks have seen an improved showing from Goole and the lads were full of confidence going into the game.

That confidence spilled on to the pitch as Goole took control of the game after settling at around 10 minutes in.

A few chances were created by The Port but nothing converted until a goalmouth scramble saw Nat Dewing claim his first goal for the club as he was able to stab the ball past the keeper following a pass from centre back Steve Shooter.

Goole took control from there and began to play well as a unit, creating more chances and eventually saw their work rewarded with a long ball sent from goalkeeper Kaspars Kadikis who found the returning Carter Sellars who slotted away perfectly to double Goole's lead before half-time.

At the break Port Goole manager, Adam Ruane, opted to make a host of changes to keep the intensity going into the second half.

Goole started well but soon Bridon began to fight back and the momentum switched to the away side.

Bridon managed to pull one back through Marsden and from there seemed the likeliest of teams to score again.

Kaspars Kadikis in goal managed to save Goole on a number of occasions, pulling off some incredible saves and commanding his box well.

More subs were made to re-introduce some stability into the line-up and soon enough the game reached a boiling point with a Bridon player headbutting Matty Cooper which sparked a brawl and saw both teams reduced to 10 men.

With around 10 minutes to play Goole seemed to take control again and came agonisingly close to a 3rd goal with Nat Dewing narrowly slotting wide.

Goole can be proud of the performance put in and fully deserved the win after the hard work they've put in over the last 4 weeks.
